I’m Pete the Mad-Hatted Poet, the creator of this blogsite, sometimes a protest poet, you will find my poems on this blog. I publish poems of other poets – I especially like Beat Poets (e,g, Allen Ginsberg), Benjamin Zephaniah, John Cooper Clarke, Thom Gunn, William Blake, Liverpool Poets, poems from the1969 book Children of Albion: Poetry of the Underground in Britain, the songs of singer / songwriters, buskers and I support / publish alternative narratives of independent journalists, writers, favourite artists’ /cartoonists’ works.
On stage with the poetry is My Music especially the music I heard live on stage during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Since a very early age I have been a musik-freak, but by the time I was 18 I especially liked Blues music and I went to gigs where blues was played by white groups. A Lover of (mostly) Progressive Rock Music around the 1969 era (especially Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Captain Beefheart and his Magic band, Third Ear Band, Tangerine Dream. I play examples of my kind of music, I include the lyrics and recordings of some of my favourite bands / singers, (much of which has inspired me to write poems).

My very first experience of hearing live blues was Howlin’ Wolf at the King’s Head Romford, Monday, 19 May 1969. White and Collinson of Dr Feelgood went to see Howlin’ Wolf at the same gig and Howlin’ Wolf had a profound effect on them both, as he did on me because he blew me away.
I loved going to live gigs (see list of bands I have seen on My Music Page) and Festivals throughout 1969 and 1970’s, including1970 Bath Festival, (Led Zeppelin, the Mothers of Invention, Johnny Winter, Donavan, Pink Floyd etc. June 27–29, 1970 – Attendance: Estimated between 150,000 and 200,000 people.
